Bradford’s Antiques understands your concerns as an
online buyer and will work with you throughout the shipping process to
make sure your fine antique or collectible arrives safely and on schedule.
As you view the items listed on our web site, you are invited to contact
our office during business hours to obtain shipping times and costs for
any purchase.
To assure the safe arrival of your antique or
collectible, Bradford’s Antiques works with specialty shippers to
pack and ship small and large antiques across town and across the
country. With the growth of internet sales through popular Ebay auctions
and other online stores, a new shipping industry has been established to
handle the safe and secure packing and shipping of antiques.
We primarily use two freight companies that are very
experienced in handling fine antique furniture. The following brief
descriptions give you some idea as to the services they perform.
The Box Doctor (Kansas City, MO
Phone: 816-941-4800)
The Box Doctor ships both small and large items for us.
Smaller items are picked up by The Box Doctor, packaged to UPS
specifications and shipped by UPS. Delivery of these small
items are based on UPS
standard terms, usually delivery to your door. Your item is
insured by UPS during transit.
Larger items are picked up by The Box Doctor and taken to their
warehouse. At the warehouse it is professionally packed, placed inside a
custom made double corrugated box and secured to a skid for shipping.
Final shipment to your home or office is scheduled by The Box Doctor
through one of several freight companies.
These freight companies generally deliver to the sidewalk of your
home. You are responsible to unwrap and bring the piece into your home.
To insure the safe packing of your piece it is sometimes best for it to
be taken apart for shipment. Generally, this is limited to removing
shelves, crowns, etc. If the piece has been taken apart for shipment,
you will be required to put the piece back together yourself.
Bradford's Antiques will be happy to assist you over the phone with any
instructions you need to reattach pieces. It is usually very simple
requiring only a screwdriver and pair of pliers.
Delivery time estimate is usually 2-3 weeks from the time your item
is picked up at our store, depending on your location. The freight
company will call and set a time for delivery to your home so you may
organize help for uncrating and moving your piece. Your item
is insured for its cost by The Box Doctor at a rate of $15/$1,000.
Plycon Transportation 773-640-5110

With more than 20 years in business, this company is providing excellent
service for delivery of online antique purchases. Delivery is
generally two to three weeks from pick-up.
Final Hints For A Trouble-Free Delivery
You may rest assured that Bradford's Antiques will
work with you throughout the shipping and delivery process to make sure
your item arrives safely and as scheduled. To make this as smooth of
effort as possible, please consider the following tips:
- Be aware of the delivery services of each company we described
above. We are very limited in our ability to have the shipping company
perform special services not described above. Please let us know
of any special circumstances you may have regarding delivery so we can
see if we can help you with this before selecting a shipper.
- Once the item is picked up by the shipping company, the liability
for the safe delivery of the item belongs to the shipping company.
However, we take our responsibility seriously to continue to work with
you and the shipping company to make sure it arrives at your home or
business safe and as scheduled. We will notify you by phone or
email when your shipment leaves Bradford's Antiques.
- When we notify you that your shipment has left our store, we will
remind you of the delivery policy of the company doing the shipping and
let you know of any tools you will need to reassemble your antique.
- Be aware that companies specializing in delivering single items
generally pick-up an item and store it at their warehouse while they put
together a complete load going your direction. Estimated delivery
times are usually based from the date the item is picked up at
Bradford's Antiques.
